EQUINE SPECIFIC FIRST AID COURSE

This course is designed for anyone who is involved with horses, whether as an instructor, rider or parent and we would encourage you all to come along.

The course provides a basic overview of first aid procedures, with a particular focus on the injuries that are most likely to be sustained whilst handling and riding horses. General topics that the course will cover include CPR, shock, unconscious casualties, trauma management, medical emergencies and BHS accident procedure.

The Equine Specific 2 Day Initial First Aid Course is for you if you have never received any first aid training or if your qualification has lapsed more than 1 day. Numbers will be limited to allow ample time and opportunity to learn and practise the skills required to complete the course. At the end of the course, you will receive an ID card and certificate of achievement, valid for 2 years.

The Equine Specific 1 Day Refresher Course is available if you already hold a First Aid at Work or Equine Specific qualification which you wish to update before it expires. Attending the refresher course every two years is a mandatory requirement for instructors wishing to remain on the register (unless they hold an up-to-date 4-day Health and Safety at Work certificate) and is highly recommended for others involved with horses. To attend the 1 day refresher course you will need to provide a copy of your current First Aid at Work or ESFAC course. If your qualification has lapsed, you will need to attend a 2-day course.
