TRAINING

Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced rider there will be classes or courses near you.

Approved Riding Schools : We hold a list of BHS approved Riding SchoolsFor more information on the benefits of approval please click here.  

Register of Instructors: We hold a Register of BHS Qualified Instructors, who have been professionally trained to provide safe instruction.  All our Instructors attend regular training sessions to keep their knowledge up to date. 

Training Days: All registered instructors need to complete Continuing Professional Development training. These days aren't just for instructors though - they are open to everyone who has an interest in the topic.

Equine Specific First Aid Courses: These very user-friendly courses are highly recommended for everyone involved with horses.

Riding and Road Safety: An essential test for everyone who rides on the road, the training leading to the Riding and Road Safety Test aims to help minimise the risk involved in riding on the road.

Child Protection: Riding aims to provide a safe and stimulating enviroment for children.  You will find information about the evening course "Safeguarding and Protecting Children" and about Disclosure Checking on this page.

SVQs: You will find information about the Scottish Centres which provide SVQ training on this page.
