*****NEWS FLASH*****         FEBRUARY 2012 PRESS RELEASE

The British Horse Society, Scotland (BHSS), Dumfries and Galloway Region is soon to get the 2012 Season underway with it's first event of the New Year being a Fundraising Showjumping Competition being held at Barstobrick, Ringford on Sunday 12th February.  The Showjumping event will take the format of Ponies from 9am and Horses from 1pm. The schedule will include the usual classes as well as each class to include one easy TREC obstacle, Low Branches for ponies and the Corridor for horses. A clear round will also be included between the Pony and Horse sections. Entries will be taken on the day and it is open to all.
In conjunction with BHSS, local TREC competitor Sheila Watson, who has been short listed as a Team member,  is organising the event to raise funds towards the British Team competing in the World Championships this Autumn, in Portugal.  TREC, which was introduced to this country from France by The BHS in 1998,  is a relatively new sport which is ever increasing in popularity, and tests the abilities of horse and rider, through the phases of control of the horses paces, the ability to tackle various 'obstacles' as well as testing navigational competency.
Next event on the calendar is a Social Evening with Helene Mauchlen, BHSS Developement Officer,  on 21st February in Gelston Village Hall.  Helene will talk about the work of the BHS and also about plans for the future of both BHS and BHSS in 2012, as well as answering any questions.  The evening is open to both members and non-members so come along and find out what the BHS can do for you.  Contact Justine Hunter (07762 522 073) or any committee member to book your ticket for the Social Evening.
