Equine Biosecurity Forum 2016

The Scottish Government and the BHS Scotland have been joint hosts of the Equine Biosecurity Forum 2016 to help raise awareness within the equine industry, in particular yard managers, horse owners, vets and ancillary businesses, of the importance of biosecurity and its role in the prevention and also the containment of disease outbreaks, and actions that businesses can take to reduce the risks and impacts.

EquiBioSafe App:
A new horse health iPhone app named EquiBioSafe, has been launched to aid bio-security across the industry. The app is:
Free and available to all – by both smartphone and tablet.
Convenient – providing disease control advice, wherever you are.
Helpful to everyone involved with horses – to prevent infectious disease and keep our horses safe.
 
Equibiosafe -regulator requirementsEquiBioSafe has been primarily designed for Thoroughbred breeding farm and racing stable staff, farm managers, racehorse trainers and their vets but is useful to all horse owners and managers as the biosecurity guidelines apply to all horse premises, large and small.

EquiBioSafe provides reliable advice on equine disease control, wherever you are. The comprehensive biosecurity section covers how to minimize contagious disease risk with practical advice on management of horses, staff, visitors and the environment whilst providing checklists for dealing with sick horses.

KBHH Yard Master App:

This App will help equine vets perform a biosecurity risk assessment of the yards under their care. Together with the yard owner/manager, vets will work through a series of multiple choice questions related to the husbandry and management of the horses on the yard.
