You may be aware that Scotland are lucky enough to be hosting the British TREC Championships 2012, these will take place at Hilton of Beath Farm near Kelty. In addition Scotland has had two riders; Dot Still & Rhoda McVey shortlisted to represent Great Britain in the World Championships in Portugal in September.
This is all fabulous news for TREC Scotland. To ensure we have a Scottish Team and riders that are best prepared we want to make sure that we raise funds well in advance to support development and training for our riders across Scotland. So how can you help? Well actually we think we can help you while you help us!! Have a horsey stuff clear out! You know these brushing boots that never fitted, that saddle pad that's the wrong colour, these jodhpurs that you haven't quite grown into or that great bridle that just doesn't suit your horse and you have only used a few times? Well how about donating that and any other (in useable condition) horsey bits and pieces to have lying around gathering dust to TREC Scotland? We will then use our entrepreneurial skills to pass these on to new happy homes, raising money for TREC on the way! How to donate?
Trec is a fun competition, usually consisting of three phases,
orienteering on horseback (POR), Control of Paces (CoP) and a cross
country obstacle course (PTV). The main object of the competition is to
enjoy yourself and have fun with your horse.
Trec has many benefits for horse and rider. It encourages calmness and versatility in the horse, and confidence and independence for the rider. There are plenty of training days across Scotland to help you get to grips with this growing sport. Interesting guidance on Hat Tagging. 2012 Afiiliation details and fees - click here.
